Today, we bring you another incredible story about the importance of including different people in the children's education, especially the parents, who also need additional support to enable transformative education for their children.
Julio is an 8-year-old boy who lives in the beautiful town of Urubamba, Cuzco. When he was a child, he suffered a significant loss, because his mother passed away when she was young. From the beginning, his father, Julian, told him the truth about their family. Julian believes that Julio deserves to know the truth and wants him to feel secure and not confused. For their convenience, Julian arranged a little bed and a desk with some books to help Julio to read and write, as completing his studies is one of Julian’s top priorities.
Anderson, an Enseña Peru Professional , is Julio teacher. Upon noticing Julio’s initial shyness at school, Anderson took action. He visited all the students’ homes to understand their circumstances and the challenges each family faced. When Anderson met Julio father, Julian, he saw the dedication to support his son, but they needed more resources to improve his development. Anderson then worked with Julian and Julio in various social-emotional skills, providing support after classes.
Today Julio teacher describes him as a very creative child, full of ideas and dreams, who now opens up and finds his place among his classmates. He has become more independent and can now take a shower alone, prepare his school uniform, or serve dinner when his father works in their field. Andersonis immensely proud of the positive changes in the entire family and emphasizes the importance of collaborating with different actors that are involved in the educational progress.
Stories like Julio become possible through continued support and we are immensely grateful for your partnership in our mission to revolutionize education in Peru.
