Dear Friend of Aumazo,
I recently had a conversation with a group of potential Friends of Aumazo. The discussion enlightened me as we were talking and I realized that I had never really put emphasis on the main reason behind our decision to build a girl school in rural Cameroon from scratch.
You might not know this but many school buildings around the country are not equipped with TOILETS. As surreal as it may sound, the situation is even worse in rural communities where girls relieve themselves in bushes around schools. These conditions pose a serious safety hazard for girls and we are determined to change the narrative with our new school building equipped with toilets.
We continue to count on your partnership to raise funds that will allow us to complete our first pilot boarding high school and welcome the girls soon. Your gift has already made a big difference. I am traveling to Cameroon on October 14, 2014 to relaunch the production of blocks for the next phase of the construction of the school. I will share updates with you upon my return mid-November.
One important addition to my trip is the presence of Mr. Randy Sovich, an architect at RM Sovich Architecture firm based in Baltimore, Maryland. He is offering a pro bono service and redesigning the school floorplan. The new design is already showing some great improvements and the benefits are greater in term of safety for the girls. He will conduct a precision-assessment of the school site to design a plan that will fit in with the environment.
Together we are bringing small changes that are making a big difference. We are changing the narrative and setting a new tone that matters. Your continued support will help us reach the ultimate goal of opening doors to the first girls by fall 2016. GlobalGiving is giving us another Bonus Day opportunity on October 15 to make even a greater impact.
Please consider telling your friends and family about our project - share the link on your blogs or social networks, use the tell-a-friend feature on the project page to email your network, or just bring us up in conversation. Again, thank you for all that you are doing to help AUMAZO, INC achieve greatly.
