Dear Donor,
This month we bring to you the voices of people living our work. We will start with a message from our Executive Director Fernando Alves followed by the testimonial of our beneficiaries Marlene Scavarelli from São Paulo and James Andrade from Recife.
We hope their words and stories fill your heart with joy, because you, as a donor, is part of making all of this possible.
Thank you so much for your donation and enjoy the reading.
Best,
Adriana
Executive Director's Word
Rede Cidadã believes in active citizenship. In citizens who want to build a better world and effectively participate in its development. Voluntary work, financial donations, even of small amounts on a recurring basis, express the strength of citizenship and the high impact they have on transforming the social reality of those who need it most.
Upon completing 20 years and the mark of more than 105 thousand people, among youth, adults, seniors, people with disabilities and homeless people trained and placed in the labor market, Rede Cidadã reached a credibility capable of engaging people who support our social work to achieve over 100 thousand more people in the next decade.
And through our GlobalGiving Report, we thank you as a citizen donor in this great citizenship network.
Fernando Alves
Executive Director
And there is no better recommendation to receive than one coming from someone who knows you and your work from experience, right? That's why we are proud to share here the testimony of Marlene, who is part of our Apprenticeship Program and decided to become a donor to Rede Cidadã!
"I became a recurring donor to Rede Cidadã’s projects and I do it with great joy and with a willingness to help, because Rede Cidadã is a fantastic social organization that gives young people, the elderly and the disabled (that´s me), job opportunities.
I am elderly and have a hearing impairment. I have in Rede Cidadã a reference of seriousness and good educators. My educator is Douglas Eliakim, an excellent person, and a fantastic educator. Gabriel, the project coordinator, is also an extremely polite person and an incredible collaborator. In fact, there isn’t one person from Rede Cidadã who does not deserve praise.”
Marlene Scaravelli, 72 years old, hearing impaired and apprentice at the company Dasa, in São Paulo (SP), thinks about the work we do with disabled and vulnerable people.
Seeing the impact of our work in the lives of people who go through our programs and projects is what makes it all worth!
Our effort is for more and more people to gain autonomy, to grow, to evolve in their professional and personal lives, and James Andrade's testimony, which you can read here, is a beautiful portrait of that. He started out as a doorman for Accenture and now runs his own IT company in Portugal, where he lives.
"I would like to tell you my story by thanking Rede Cidadã and Accenture for the opportunity gave to me to participate in the program carried in partnership by them.
In 2015, I was the doorman at the building where Accenture was located in Recife (PE), and that's how I got to know the Accenture for the Future program. I was very excited to be a part of it, as I was always looking for a way to enter the world of technology that I saw every day. This course was the perfect opportunity, and it really opened many doors for me!
Today, I live in Portugal and have my own company in the area of education and technology and one of my goals is to be able to contribute to the lives of many young people together with partner companies, to transform their lives through education, as it happened to me."
James Andrade, participant in the Accenture for the Future project in 2015 and now founder and owner of Trusted.
