Transforming Lives with Clean Water Access

By Dr. Abdullahi Hersi | Executive Director

Nomadic Assistance for Peace and Development (NAPAD) continues to leverage digital media in resource mobilization through targeted online fundraising campaigns, with the objective of expanding donor engagement and securing sustainable support for community-driven development initiatives. These efforts are executed across multiple digital platforms, including the organization’s website and social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, and X), to enhance visibility, reach new supporters, and maintain a consistent flow of information to existing donors.

This project, titled “Transforming Lives with Access to Clean Water in Waranqara,” aims to address the long-standing water access challenges in Waranqara village, located in Mandera County, Kenya, by installing a solar-powered water pumping system. Once fully implemented, the project will provide over 6,300 residents with safe, clean, and reliable water for domestic use, contributing to improved health outcomes, reduced waterborne diseases, and enhanced livelihoods, especially for women and children who bear the burden of water collection.

Despite the critical importance of this initiative, the campaign has to date raised only $28, indicating the need for intensified outreach and visibility. In response, the communications and programs teams have ramped up efforts to scale the campaign through creative storytelling and targeted social media ads. Visual content, including posters, newsletters, and a video highlighting the current water crisis in Waranqara, has also been produced.

Moving forward, the team remains committed to refining the campaign’s messaging, expanding donor networks, and sustaining momentum until the funding target is achieved. Stakeholders and staff are encouraged to support by sharing campaign content within their networks and exploring institutional fundraising linkages.
