Transportation Aid for Cancer Patients in Ghana

Summary

Cancer patients in rural Ghana struggle to afford transportation to reach treatment centers, often leading to missed appointments and deteriorating health. Challenge

In Ghana, access to cancer treatment is limited to a few specialized centers, mostly located in major cities. For rural and underserved patients, transportation costs to these centers are prohibitive, resulting in missed treatments and, ultimately, decreased chances of recovery. Low-income families often face difficult choices, such as prioritizing basic needs over health-related travel costs.

Solution

The Transportation Aid project will provide stipends for patients who cannot afford regular travel to treatment centers. By covering transportation costs, we can reduce treatment abandonment, ensuring patients receive the care they need consistently. We will work closely with hospitals to identify eligible patients, establish partnerships with transportation providers for reliability, and monitor fund usage to ensure each donation makes a direct impact on a patient's journey to recovery.

Long-Term Impact

Providing transportation support will improve the continuity of care for cancer patients, leading to higher treatment completion rates and better health outcomes. By alleviating travel-related financial burdens, this project also enables families to focus on their loved one's health rather than struggling with transportation costs. In the long term, this initiative will contribute to reducing cancer mortality in Ghana and build a sustainable support model for cancer patients across the country.
