Dear our great donors,
We thank you so much for your good donation you sent to Elyon & Friends Tanzania through GlobalGiving for Trees Planting project in our region.
Through your generously support we were able to buy and distributed 120 trees for 12 households. For some years people have been cutting down trees without consideration of replantation which resulted into shortage of rain, weather alteration, and soil erosion.
In the sub village where trees planted, Elyon & Friends established environmental conservation group which consist of 60 members including chairman and secretary. Leaders will be supervising planted trees to make sure each member is conserving, fencing and watering them regularly. Farmers are requesting for more trees so each person from their area can get and plant in order to enhance agroforestry but also in the future same trees will provide them with leaves and pods for forage, branches for firewood, poles for building and fencing, permanent habitats for birds and insects, flowers will provide nectar for both stingless and regular bees which produces honey, trees will assist other crops to grow well under it such as vegetables, also planted trees will act as wind break and prevent soil erosion. The tree planting season is between month of March to early June and from late November to mid-December due to the reason that it will be rain season which is best time for planting trees.
The need of tree planting is big, even the smallest amount can help a farmer planning a tree.
