Thank you—we can’t say it enough! Because of your generosity, people struggling after Tropical Storm Trami were able to receive essential supplies, nutritious food, and disaster preparedness training so they are more equipped to remain safe when future storms hit.

We know that preparedness will become even more critical in the coming years, as the severity and frequency of storms hitting the country are likely to increase.

Thankfully, this GlobalGiving Fund has powered three grants to high-impact, community-led nonprofit organizations at the forefront of this response.

Here is a description of the critical work you’ve supported:

  • Citizens Disaster Response Center (CDRC)  is providing hot meals and essential supplies, including rescue boats, to communities affected by Typhoon Trami. In addition, through its social media platforms, CDRC raises awareness about upcoming storms, helping communities stay informed and better prepared. The nonprofit also hosts an annual program that encourages children from across the nation to submit posters on disaster preparedness, fostering greater awareness of these critical issues while actively involving young people in the conversation.
  • Center for Disaster Preparedness (CDP) is raising funds to support grassroots partners and communities, including fishermen who lost their livelihoods in the storm. CDP also continues to offer vital disaster preparedness, helping enhance communities’ safety during emergencies.
  • Climate Change Network for Community-Based Initiatives (CCNCI) is delivering emergency supplies—including clothes, tents, blankets, and mosquito nets—to communities in the Bicol region. The organization is also using its platform to appeal for additional essentials to support farmers, fisherfolk, and local residents.

Your support of the GlobalGiving Tropical Storm Trami is driving community-led recovery, ensuring our partners receive critical resources to help rebuild. As a leader at CDRC shared:

“We are glad to be among the first organizations to help in the three provinces of Cagayan. We helped 3,400 households—or 13,600 individuals—last November alone”

This fund is no longer accepting donations, and this will be the last fund report of this kind from our team. We hope you’ll continue to follow the incredible work of our partners in the coming months.  Given the severity and frequency of storms that have impacted the Philippines this fall, they will continue to need our solidarity.

You can stay connected with our work through Instagram, Facebook, and our Learn Library, where we regularly share stories about the incredible impact of the powerful GlobalGiving community. If you haven’t already, subscribe to get inspirational email updates from our team here.

With gratitude,

About GlobalGiving’s Disaster Response

When a disaster strikes, recovery efforts led by people who live and work in affected communities are often overlooked and underfunded. GlobalGiving is changing this reality. Since 2004, we've been shifting decision-making power to crises-affected communities through trust-based grantmaking and support.

We make it easy, quick, and safe to support people on the ground who understand needs in their communities better than anyone else.

They were there long before the news cameras arrived, and they’ll be there long after the cameras leave. They know how to make their communities more resilient to future disasters, and they’re already hard at work. GlobalGiving puts donations and grants directly into their hands. Because the status quo—which gives the vast majority of funding to a few large organizations—doesn’t make sense.
