Tsharka Tibetan Elem/Middle School, Dolpo, Nepal

Tsharka's school year is fully underway. But well before the summer term starts in this high Himalayan village, dozens of heavy bags of school materials are prepared in Kathmandu. The bags are transported to Tsharka, where all the books, notebooks, and study materials for the school year must be opened, organized and distributed. Teachers and older students all get involved. Students study in regular classrooms, and also in the computer lab. Although Tsharka School does not have access to internet, students learn how to use computers and work with downloaded information. In the good summer weather, students do morning exercises in the courtyard.
