Step by Step, Inch by Inch

The photo that you see was taken years ago and  is of one of our dancers, performing as " the goldfsh girl" in the traditional Khmer version of the Reamker.  This mythological figure represents loyalty, patience and inner strength.

As you read you rill see that our program update this quarter is similar to the one we made in Decenber.  After all, eduction is a process that  is  more like a marathon than a sprint, and our two students are completing that marathon with grace, loyalth, patience and a lot of inner strength !

Kasumisou Foundation is currently supporting university studies for  two young women - both of whom currently work in the office at our Champey Academy of Arts.

Both women work full time - six days per week - at Champey Academy and attend their classes in the evenings. It is worth noting that the standard work week is  8 hours a day, 6 days per week. We want to highlight this as a gesture of respect to the dedication that these two young women are showing in their effort to move forward in their lives.

Ms. V. is 21 years old . She is in year two of a 4 year program in her studies toward a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing and Communications and she is just  about to start the second semester.  While a high school student Ms. V.  completed the full course of study at one of Phnom Penh’s most respected English language schools and she now speaks fluent English.

Our other student, Ms. T. is 20 years old . Ms T is also  in year two of a four year program  in her pursuit of  Bachelor of Law degree.  She too, is  about to start the second semester.  Ms. T.’s English language skills are, to a large degree, self taught and are a tribute to her determination to excel despite growing up in home where she received little parental support or encouragement.  Her English language ability is now very strong although not yet entirely fluent.

It is worth noting that these two exceptional young women are not only working full time but also attending classes in the evenings, working hard to transform their lives and  to propel themselves into the educated class..  Annual tuition is $ 750 per .up from $700 last year. Half  of  the tuition  is paid  for by  each student

Your generous support is helping these students to achieve their dream of a college degree. Truly, together, we are changing these lives forever!

Thank you for your generous support!
