Three months after the devastating earthquakes that struck Syria and Türkiye, people across the region still struggle with the overwhelming loss of loved ones, livelihoods, and property.
Thanks to the contributions of generous supporters, RI responded swiftly from day one and continues to help families rebuild their lives.
In Syria, staff at RI’s 30 hospitals and clinics have delivered lifesaving treatment and psychosocial support to people affected by the earthquakes. So far, RI has provided more than 260,000 health consultations, and 1,500 babies have been born in RI’s facilities.
Rawan, 32, is a survivor of the earthquakes that hit the north of Syria. “I found myself under the collapsed ceiling of the building. I felt dizzy, dust filling my mouth, and I thought about my daughter. I did not know what had happened to her, but I could not move or talk.”
A rescue team pulled Rawan and her daughter from under the rubble a few hours after the first earthquake. RI’s mobile medical staff treated Rawan’s injuries, ensuring she could fully recover.
In Türkiye, RI provided 10,400 essential items such as tents, blankets, hygiene kits, food baskets, and medical supplies in the first month after the earthquakes. Since then, RI has provided water, sanitation, and hygiene services like mobile latrines and health and protection services to over 46,000 people daily.
