Building decent home
Dear Friends,
Greetings and thank you very much for your kind support to our project to provide decent homes for the poorest of typhoon survivors. We are now focusing on beneficiaries located in hard to reach areas such as those living in the mountains. We are still using local materials such as coconut lumber from trees destroyed during the typhoon and bamboo mats for walls. There is also an NGO who is now leaving Leyte and offering us hundreds of unused tarps which we can use for temporary walls. Support for this project is getting smaller as time passes but we intend to continue supporting this until early next year. This reporting period we are able to build 5 homes for 5 families living in a mountain barrio in Albuera Municipality.
Again, thank you very much for your support.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora

Building materials for a mountain village
Dear Friends,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your continuing support to our project providing decent homes to Typhoon Haiyan survivors. This reporting period, we focus on providing support to a mountain village in Leyte where assistance was minimal primarily because the big trucks could not pass through difficult road conditions and also because there is problem with peace and order and insurgency. We contacted barangay officials and ask the help of the local army base for security. We did not construct the homes ourselves but provided only building materials such as galvanized iron, nails and bamboo mats. We provided the materials to 7 very poor families.
Again thank you very much for your help.
Very sincerely yours,
Elmer Sayre

Typhoon resilient center
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings for the Holidays and thank you very much for your kind donation to our projects in Leyte. We are proud to say that we were one of the local-based organization that responded just a few weeks after the typhoon struck and that we are still here delivering much-needed services to the communities. We also expanded our work to include providing technical consulting services to international aid organizations in order to generate funds in order to keep our operations going.
This reporting period, we are happy and proud to inform you that a school club based in Malaysia conducted fund-raising events there in order to raise funds for a "community center" which we are including broadly under our home-building project because this will be a home for those wanting to learn new skills, and to showcase disaster-resilient approaches and strategies. The center is built in a 500 square meter beach-front lot near Ormoc City. This will be opened and inaugurated early next year.
Again, thank you very much. Happy Holiday Seasons and Mabuhay!
Very sincerely yours,
Elmer
