Dear All Friends,
Warm greetings from Leyte.
I am very happy to inform you that our home-building project is in full-swing. To date we are able to build a total of 15 houses. Aside from building entirely new houses, we decided to also add building materials such as coconut lumber, bamboo, bamboo mats, iron roofing and cement for flooring and finish houses that are still unfinished. Some beneficiaries here have started re-building but due to sheer lack of funds they were unable to complete the houses and they are already residing on it.
Our home-building is concentrated in 3mountain barrios of Ormoc and in Albuera municipality. We are also helping to build homes as requested by contacts as far as Naval, Tacloban City and Isabel municipality but seeing to it that the beneficiaries are really indigent. For example, the family in Tacloban lost everything during the typhoon and are surviving on hand-outs from well-meaning people. We are also doing over-time work to stock-pile coconut lumber which is a basic material in home-building since the coconut trees damaged by the typhoon and left in the fields are starting to rot already. We will have difficulty later without the supply of coconut lumber.
Again thank you very much for your help.
With much gratitude,
Cora Sayre
