By Cora Sayre | Project Leader
Dear Friend,
Warm greetings and thank you very much for your generous support to our project providing assistance to those severely affected by Typhoon Tembin (local name: Vinta). The typhoon has brought so much damage and hardship to local people who are farmers here and especially those living in the village of Dalama in Tubod municipality. Water coming from the mountains come crashing down on the village bringing with it debris and silt and destroying hundreds of houses and killing people as well as destroying livelihood. This reporting period, we continue to provide assistance to those severely affected by providing food, vegetable seeds that they can grow and by constructing low-cost yet durable latrines. We coordinated closely with the local government unit as well as with other support organizations in the area in order not to duplicate our assistance. The beneficiaries is very happy about our work and they are very thankful that we are providing them with support especially with regards latrines because we are the only ones providing this type of assistance to them. We are able to construct a total of 115 latrines and repair 75 of those that are damaged. Repair is important because the substructure of latrines are usually made of concrete and during typhoons only the upper structure are damaged.
Again, thank you very much for your generosity.
Very sincerely yours,
Cora
