We want to express our gratitude for your support to United to Benefit Ecuadorian Children, International (UBECI) and your support during the year 2018. With your donations, we were able to maintain our activities at markets in the south of Quito, develop workshops and recreational activities that benefited children and adolescents at risk, who are obliged to help their parents at the markets due to their economic situation.
Without any intervention, in most of the cases the children wouldn’t spend enough time to study, while others would have to abandon school. We are pleased to inform that our new UBECI center AC (Acceso al Conocimiento = Access to knowledge) is open since June 2018. Thanks to the work of this new center, our Foundation met its goal in reducing child labor hours.
The children participated in structured activities focusing on gender and social development equality and equal share of responsibilities between men and women. The activities also helped the children/adolescents to enhance their self-esteem.
In 2018, the services provided by the foundation have benefited 685 children and adolescents
