As the war in Ukraine nears its fifth year, Save the Children is continuing to respond across Ukraine with winter assistance and rapid support for newly displaced families, working alongside local partners.
We’re prioritizing response activities in the most affected areas, including Kyiv, Kharkhiv, and Donetsk, as well as areas impacted by severe cold weather. By working with local partners in Ukraine, we continue to meet the needs of families with the following life-saving humanitarian programs:
SHELTER AND ESSENTIAL ITEMS • We’re repairing damaged homes and collective centers to ensure families have safe shelter. • We’re distributing winterization support to help families stay warm during extreme cold. • We’re providing hygiene kits and menstrual hygiene supplies for girls, along with materials that promote healthy family hygiene practices.
FOOD SECURITY AND CASH ASSISTANCE • We’re delivering multi-purpose cash assistance and agricultural grants, enabling families to cover rent, food, utilities, and farming inputs. • We launched community-led recovery projects to strengthen local leadership, skills, and economic opportunities.
EDUCATION • We established Digital Learning Centres to support remote education. • We’re rehabilitating damaged schools and nurseries to restore safe learning environments. • We’re supporting teachers and children with disabilities, strengthening inclusive education systems now and for the future. • We’re setting up temporary learning spaces and catch-up programs so children can safely learn and play.
CHILD PROTECTION • We’re setting up child-friendly spaces where children can learn, play and receive mental health and psychosocial support. • We’re providing mobile mental health and psychosocial services in transit and in host communities. • We’re providing individualized support for displaced children and their families. • We’re helping protect children from dangers such as mines and explosive remnants of war. • We’re training local partners and communities to strengthen long-term child protection systems.
Thank you for your support for our Ukraine Programs.
