UKRAINE. FAMILIES IN WAR ZONE NEED URGENT HELP.

This summer, we had a lot of great activities. But it was not without its challenges.

As you know, the war in Ukraine is still ongoing and people are not suffering any less. This summer, the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam by the Russian army, resulting in flooding and large-scale inundation of villages and towns along the Dnipro River, caused a sharp deterioration in the humanitarian situation in the southern region.

Therefore, in the summer, our Transit Center met many migrants from Kherson region. Many of them lost all their property. We hope that our support and care helped them to recover a little and find the strength to move on with their lives.

From June to September 2023, 146 people, including 47 children, lived and received services at the Transit Center.

As before, most migrants living in the Center attend individual and group sessions with a psychologist. We hold regular sessions together so that people can learn new skills. They learn how to cope with stress and emotions, learn to show empathy for each other, learn how to avoid and recognize psychosomatic disorders, and find answers to questions about raising children and family relationships.

The Teenage Hub is actively developing. We have created a space for socialization, emotional stabilization and development of teenagers from families affected by the war.

In such a space, every teenager can try themselves in various activities. There is a jewelry school, a drawing studio, and children participate in trainings, team building, recreational and sports activities. In the summer, children visited a dolphinarium, a water park, an ethnopark with a zoo, and an entertainment center. The Hub also employs teachers to help children master the school curriculum offline and online. Over the summer, 24 children visited the Hub. They were delighted and made new friends.

Between June and September 2023, the transit center provided the following services for migrants and other people in need. 720 consultations were conducted by a family doctor for children and adults. 107 legal consultations were provided by a lawyer. The center provides humanitarian aid to low-income families: food, bedding and hygiene products.

Now we are actively preparing for the winter season, as there is a high probability that there will be power outages this year as well.
