Dear friends, we are happy to share that your donation has helped 6 children with disabilities in Ukraine access essential treatments at a total cost of USD 5064.
Children with special health needs deserve access to quality care. In Ukraine, many families of children with disabilities, devastated by the war and poverty, seek help from charities to afford treatment for their children.
15-year-old Ivan suffers from tetraparesis. His mum, Anna, is a widow; she raises her two children alone. The desperation forced Anna to approach our organisation for help as she can't anymore afford medical treatments for her son.
Our other beneficiary, Vlad, was left permanently disabled as a result of a car accident. Around eight years ago, the family met with a terrible car accident where Vlad was seriously injured. The boy sustained severe injuries to his brain, spent five months in a coma and was left permanently disabled as a result of the accident. Over the years, there has been a long journey of Vlad’s various treatments and operations in the hope of improving his condition. Two years ago, the family underwent another major setback with the start of the war. Escaping the shelling, they had to leave their home in the East of Ukraine with nothing but essentials and sought refuge in another area of Ukraine. Their city has been destroyed, and their house was damaged in the fighting. The family lost everything. The situation is very, very tough as the family scrambles to get by, build a life in a new place and afford treatments for Vlad. We helped Vlad to attend a physio rehabilitation course, and also, as part of our other GlobalGiving project that supports mums of disabled children, we purchased some professional supplies for Alena. This family has gone through a series of terrible events, and your help has been crucial for them; your support means the world to all the families of children with disabilities in Ukraine we have supported on your behalf.
Your support has provided not only access to essential healthcare services but also hope that things can get better; it has signified that there is someone for them in these dark times.
Best wishes,
