Dear Friend,

In an increasingly volatile world with more children in need than ever before, your flexible giving has allowed UNICEF and partners to quickly respond to crises and anticipate future risks. Allowing UNICEF to:

  • Provide immediate life-saving assistance to the children who are most in need.
  • React faster in underfunded/forgotten emergencies. When it is difficult to attract international attention for forgotten crises; global humanitarian funding helps to address this gap.
  • Rapidly release funds for sudden-onset emergencies, within 24 hours, as needed.
  • Respond equitably based on needs by reaching children in smaller and/or forgotten crises, in underfunded sectors and in multi-country and sub-regional crises.
  • Invest in preparedness for early response. Through better risk analysis and the identification of high-return actions, preparedness saves lives and makes the emergency response faster and more efficient. This also facilitates more strategic and stronger UNICEF programming.
  • Save transaction costs associated with managing individual and earmarked contribution agreements. By reducing transaction costs, more funding can be allocated to programs for children and families.
  • Ensure a higher quality response by facilitating strategic and efficient investments based on a clear set of criteria and priorities

This flexibility has allowed UNICEF to respond equitably to emergencies across the globe. To learn more, please click here.

With your support, in 2024, UNICEF is aiming to reach more than 93.8 million children –including 50.1 million girls and 9.3 million children with disabilities – with humanitarian assistance across 155 countries and territories as follows:

  • Reach 52.4 million people with safe water;
  • Immunize 17.3 million children against measles;
  • Provide 19.3 million children with access formal or non-formal education;
  • Ensure 26.7 million children, adolescents and caregivers access community-based mental health and psychosocial support;
  • Treat 7.6 million children for severe wasting;
  • 8.7 million women, girls and boys accessing gender-based violence risk mitigation, prevention or response interventions

On behalf of the vulnerable children around the world who find themselves in the midst of emergencies, we thank you for your support.

In partnership,

Marisa Ferguson
