Welcome our 14 New Scholars!

By Mash Juzar | Scholarship Manager

14 more Scholars under the Fugee HiEd Scholarship
14 more Scholars under the Fugee HiEd Scholarship

The Fugee HiEd Scholarship Program started up in 2021. In January 2022 we awarded our first 5 scholars to deserving and smart refugee students living in Malaysia. We launched our program on GlobalGiving to raise funds to support more scholars in 2023.

We are proud to say that in January 2023 we have awarded an additional 14 scholarships to raise the number of scholars to 18 and 1 student that has already graduated (we highlighted her story in our last report!)

Over the last 18 months this is what we have done:

  1. Give out 19 full Scholarships
  2. Introduce and implement Mentorship Program exclusive for scholars with our Official Parnter, FutureLab
  3. Successfully partake in GlobalGiving Campaigns to raise funds and awareness
  4. Raise enough funds through GG and Donors to now support a Scholar's full tuition fees

Working with 19 scholars has been nothing short of inspiring. Here are a few fun facts about our Scholars!

  • One of them is a Muay Thai Champion, after winning a national compeition in Malaysia
  • We have a Musician that has been awarded a Silver Play Button on YouTube, and also has 100K+ followers
  • Another one of them has Co-Founded a refugee youth group by the name of Project Stand Up
  • We have a Scholar studying Astronomy and Planetary Sciences at Arizona State University
  • A master chess player with dreams to become a Grandmaster

Over the next few months we will be sharing more stories of our Scholars. They are full of talents and dreams, and we invite you to join us on this journey as our scholars make their to they graduation.
