Meet Rosebelly - The Next Generation!

By Jessica Lawson | Co-Founder

Rosbelly and her mother, Rosa, a former Mariposa.
Rosbelly and her mother, Rosa, a former Mariposa.
Dear Friends,
Educating and empowering girls is the silver bullet to ending generational poverty and here’s the best part - all it takes is one generation.
Rosbelly was absolutely thrilled to become a Mariposa, just like her mom was. She actively gets involved in everything she possibly can. She quickly became one of the more advanced swimmers in her group and absolutely loves tennis, reading and playing with her friends. Rosebelly is kind, thoughtful, considerate and so proud to follow in her mother, Rosa's footsteps.
Rosa was one of our original girls when we started Mariposa in 2009. 14 years old at the time, she was from an extremely poor family and attended with her two younger sisters. Rosa attended programs a few days a week for about two years - that was enough to instill enough confidence in her that she became the cycle breaker in her family.
Rosa now owns one of the most successful beauty salons on the North Coast of the Dominican Republic and her daughter, Rosbelly, began her Mariposa journey last year.
It's incredible to witness our original girls become amazing mothers and advocate for their daughters. We couldn't be more proud of Rosa, her daughter Rosbelly and her cousins joining us as second generation Mariposa girls.
When it comes to ending poverty - all it takes is one generation and we can't wait to see what their future holds.
None of this would be possible without your support and we thank you!
