Dear Global Givers,
We are thrilled to share an update on Pooja and Kiran (name changed). After months of waiting to join the boarding school, both Pooja and Kiran are now residing in the boarding school. Your support has made it possible for Pooja and Kiran to finally realise their dreams of pursuing their education in a premium institution.
Update on Pooja and Kiran
Pooja cannot believe that she is finally in boarding school. Our team on the ground helped her with procuring all her basic needs required by the school before she left. She likes the new environment and is busy making new friends. With offline classes, Pooja has to work harder to come to at par with her peers.
“After a week of joining, I have already learned a lot from my boarding mates. The food here is delicious, although I do miss my home-cooked meals.” – Pooja
Kiran is thrilled to join the boarding school. She is a hard-working student. She enjoys interacting with the other girls in school coming from different regions. The hostel warden is helpful and ensures that they are both taken care of and are helping them to settle.
“My current focus is to secure good marks for my 10th-grade exams. I like studying English and I make extra effort to learn and improve my spoken English on campus with my new friends.” Kiran
iPartner India’s work on facilitating scholarship support to girls like Pooja and Kiran is preventing young girls in Rajasthan from being trafficked and thereby giving these girls an opportunity to make informed life choices. With continued counselling and rounds of interactions with their families and community, girls are now slowly but boldly expressing their desires to pursue education.
Many girls like Pooja and Kiran are embroiled in the vicious cycle of being trapped by the practice of inter-generational sex work. We continue to engage with the local communities and families and provide solutions to strengthen girls’ agency to decide their future and educate themselves so they can make informed choices.
Thank you Global Givers for standing by Pooja and Kiran to believe in themselves and that they are not alone in their pursuit to change their destiny.
With deep gratitude,
Team iPartner India
