An urgent appeal to save 2 girls from traffickers

By Sumedha Sharma | Project Leader

Dear Global Givers,

Thank you for your recent donation to GlobalGiving to support Kiran and Pooja (name changed) to pursue their education. Both Kiran and Pooja are keeping well and have made good progress in the past months. For both, stepping out of their village to pursue an education has been both overwhelming and exciting. We are happy that despite many challenges, the girls have shown resilience and determination to follow their dreams.

Here’s what Kiran and Pooja have been up to.

Kiran

There have been many changes in Kiran’s personality, especially in her daily habits. In a safe and protected environment, she can now concentrate and give more time to focus on her studies. She has also made friends with three of her classmates with whom she spends time studying and participates in fun activities. With time, Kiran has adjusted well to the new boarding life. She has also taken up dancing, sewing, cooking, and music as part of extracurricular activities imparted at the institute. Kiran’s parents have also noticed a big change which is her positive approach towards life. Her family members often visit her at the boarding.

“At the boarding, the atmosphere is very different compared to my village. Here I can concentrate on my studies and there is nothing to fear.” - Kiran

Pooja

Pooja is currently in 12th grade. She has been facing some difficulty in adjusting to the boarding due to some problems at home. She also had to recently go back home because the roof of her house fell and there was no one to take care of her younger brother who has special needs. This makes it difficult for Pooja to focus on her studies as she also has to do household chores in addition to taking care of her younger brother. With all of these new developments, Pooja has not been able to focus on her studies. In the last 1st term exams, Pooja has not done well to attain satisfactory marks.

Our team is closely monitoring the situation on the ground to assess how we can help Pooja and her family. We are hopeful that in the next term she will be able to do better once her family situation is taken care of.

Thank you, Global Givers, your generous donation is deeply appreciated. Your support allows us to sustain our efforts in making a difference in the lives of vulnerable girls like Kiran and Pooja, so that they are able to continue with their education. Without your support, we would not have been able to make their dreams come true.

With deep gratitude,
Team iPartner India
