Dear Global Givers,
We are delighted to share an update with you on our boarding scholars, Pooja* and Kiran* (names changed), who are making remarkable strides despite their challenging circumstances. Both girls continue to show immense resilience and determination in their pursuit of education and personal growth.
Pooja* recently completed her 12th grade and is now in her first year of college and is pursuing a degree in Bachelor of Arts. Despite her challenging circumstances, she managed to secure a second division with 56% marks. She is determined to join the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and dreams of becoming a police officer. Unfortunately, Pooja’s* summer vacation was marred by frequent power outages and ongoing family pressure to abandon her studies. Her parents, who are growing older and find it increasingly difficult to work, are insistent that she quit school and join sex work to help support the family. Pooja* has promised them that she would find a job to support the family as soon as she completes her education, but they remain steadfast in their demands.
Meanwhile, Kiran* is currently recovering from surgery to remove nodes caused by tuberculosis (TB). This difficult procedure occurred during the summer break, adding to the stress for her and her family. Although educational support continues, her health challenges pose a constant threat to her future. Education has been a vital tool for negotiating with the families of these girls, making it crucial to maintain academic support. This ongoing support is essential to gradually build pressure on her family to keep Kiran* away from sex work at such a young age. Due to her health issues, Kiran's* exams did not go well because of the pain. Now in grade 12, Kiran* is determined to improve her academic performance despite the setbacks she faced in the 10th and 11th grades. Her recovery is expected to take another 15-20 days.
The goal of this fundraiser is to provide Pooja* and Kiran* with the financial support they need to continue their education at the renowned boarding school. This will not only ensure their safety from traffickers but also give them the opportunity to build a better future.
Your donation will directly contribute to covering the educational expenses, boarding, and other necessary support for Pooja* and Kiran*. By investing in their education, you are helping them break free from the cycle of poverty and exploitation, providing them with a chance to lead dignified and successful lives.
We thank you for your generous support and are grateful for your prompt attention to this cause
With Deep Appreciation,
Team iPartner India
