Access to education for children in conflict zones

Dear donor,

2021 has come to an end and we would love to share with you our successes of the past year! Each and every one of you made them possible! Your support is not a matter of course and we are very grateful for it.

• Afghanistan
  
  Progress was made with our two projects in Kabul: We were able to complete the construction of the Khwaja Boghra School and organised computer workshops for the teachers there. Furthermore, we could start the construction work for the Mohammad Parsa Primary School. By December, the shell of the second floor of the main building was completed.

• Uganda
  
  The completed buildings of the Kaloi Primary School were handed over to the school community and infrastructure-workshops as well as WASH-workshops were held at Nakibanga Primary School. In May, the construction of a new school building with four classrooms and an office as well as new latrines and a hand-washing facility could be started at the Barmwony Primary School. The inauguration ceremony and handover of the building took place in October.
  
  
• Emergency Aid
  
  During the Ramadan emergency relief in May, 355 families near Herat were provided with basic food and hygiene items. As part of the fundraising campaign launched in summer due to the escalating events in Afghanistan, Visions for Children provided food parcels for 50 families and cash benefits for another 111 families. During the winter emergency relief, almost 700 families were supplied with cash benefits and food packages

Despite the good news, we are undoubtedly facing another challenging year. In addition to the COVID pandemic, we are particularly concerned about the uncertain situation in Afghanistan: The takeover of the Taliban, the collapse of the economy and the ongoing drought have led to a catastrophic supply situation - every third person in the country suffers from hunger.
