Dear Donor,
we hope you are well! We'd like to bring you the news of our projects for access to education for children in conflict zones.
In Afghanistan, our project at 6 schools in the Balkh region has advanced despite the earthquake. Possible reparations of small damages are being evaluated by our local partners. At 3 of the 6 schools, the school buildings were renovated, class rooms were repaired and provided with new furniture. Latrines, deep wells, hand washing facilities have been built and contribute to better hygiene and clean water, enabling children to attend school regularly.
To improve the mental health of the children, two psychologists have been meeting with them, talking about topics like self-esteem, self-acceptance, better communication, stress management and building hope.
In Uganda, our project at 4 schools in the Otuke region is progressing as well. The construction work at all schools is almost finished, despites obstacles such as heavy rainfalls and temporary flooding of the construction sites. Three new school buildings at the Alangi, Amoni and Amele school are constructed and finishing touches at the interior and exterior plaster are now being added.
To ensure better hygiene at all schools, WASH-workshops were held and hygiene clubs were founded at all four schools. In these workshops, the children came up with many ideas and were very motivated to take responsibility for the matter.

Until then all the best,
Viktoria
