Help 500 flood victim youth with vocational skills

This report covers activities during this quarter:

• Sewing Class Graduation

The Sewing School proudly graduated its first batch of 20 students in March. During the graduation ceremony, the students showcased and modeled some of the outfits they had made, giving the audience a demonstration of the skills they had acquired so far. The event was a joyful celebration of their hard work and progress throughout the training period. Each student received a certificate of completion as well as a hand sewing machine from HOCAP to help them begin their sewing journey. In addition, they were provided with sewing supplies donated by Mrs. Amy Murphy from the USA. These items will support the graduates as they work toward becoming self-reliant and building sustainable livelihoods through sewing.

• Visit to Tokpo School for Donation

HOCAP paid a visit to the school in Tokpo to encourage the students in their studies. During the visit, donations were presented to support their educational activities in the school. This gesture brought joy to the students in the school.

• Menstrual Hygiene Education at Abuvie Kpong School

 In February, HOCAP visited the school at Abuvie Kpong to educate young girls on menstrual hygiene and distribute sanitary pads to about 80 teenagers. The session created awareness about the importance of proper menstrual care and encouraged the girls to practice good hygiene with confidence. The visit also included a football activity with the youth and there was soccer balls donated to the community by Soccer Happy in Arizona through the generosity of Mr. Henry Duah. The donation provided the youth with equipment to promote physical fitness and team work.

• Delivery and Fixing of Bread Machine and Rolling Machine

A bread machine and rolling machine were delivered and installed for the catering class to support practical training activities. These machines will help students learn modern industrial bread baking techniques and improve their hands-on skills in bread making.

• Class Resumption

Both the sewing and catering classes resumed on 9th April after a short break. Students returned with excitement and enthusiasm to continue their training and build on the skills they had already acquired. The Sewing School has also started receiving registrations from new students who are interested in joining the next batch of trainees.

Conclusion

In summary, HOCAP remains dedicated to equipping individuals with the knowledge, skills, and resources they need to become self-reliant and productive members of their communities. HOCAP is also grateful to its donors for the support given to them so far and looking forward to make more impact in the lives of these young ones.
