VIDA is continuing to respond to the growing healthcare needs in Peru. With over $15 million already sent in 2019, VIDA has lined up an additional four shipments that will be going out over the next six weeks. Many of these shipments represent a new partnership being led by Peru’s Ministry of Health who is spearheading an effort to upgrade and increase the number of beds available in Peru's hospital system. To that end, VIDA has already sent 300 beds in 2019 along with 120 gurneys and 175 exam tables. Of course, this is in addition to the hundreds of pallets of medical supplies and hospital equipment that VIDA sends every year to Peru.
A major cost in this project is the ocean freight from Oakland to Callao. Global Giving donors play an important role in making these shipments possible. The people of Peru and VIDA thank you for your continued generosity. We look forward to building upon our great success in the final months of 2019.
