Vulture Conservation, Multi-stake holder Orientation Program by Jivdaya Charitable Trust

Jivdaya Charitable Trust organized a Vulture Conservation Orientation Program at Sarva Vidhyalaya, Kadi, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. The program took place on May 18, 2018 from 4 pm to 8 pm.

The Program aimed at creating awareness and educating the stake holders about Vulture Conservation, role of vultures, and problems faced by Vultures. Vultures are an important part that completes the food chain. Their numbers have been declining recently, and it is torrentially important to make people aware about the same. Mr. Kartik Shastri from Jivdaya Charitable Trust was involved as the main resource person along with Dr. Shashi, Sherwin (curator) from JCT, Dr. Vipul Kavachiya, and Anil Patel (local volunteer) played an active role too. The orientation program organized focused on the major stake holders circumfusing Vulture conservation. The stake holders present were the people involved in Vulture conservation, skinners, Panjrapole trustees, dairy owners, animal keepers, farmers, chemists, religious people, forest department officials, academicians, animal husbandry department officials, veterinary doctors, live stock inspector, and locals. They all were given awareness regarding the current situation of Vultures. An interactive session was also scheduled in it where feedbacks and suggestions were invited from all the stake holders.

S. V. College has a central level colony of Vultures inside its campus which has approximately 50 vultures and 13 vulture nests in it.

Jivdaya Charitable Trust has been actively involved in rescuing and conservation of vultures along with the local Forest Department. The costs covered for all the awareness programs, treatment and rescuing are dependent on funds.

WE REQUEST PEOPLE TO HELP US RAISE FUNDS THAT CAN FACILITATE SUSTENANCE OF THE PROJECT AND SUPPORT VULTURES CONSERVATION.
