This year 956 people made it to the top of Gobolondlo Mountain during our annual hike, which has three significant goals:
The 956 participants created a fusion of individuals from all walks of life, bridging the gap between the young and old, rural and urban, Swazi and international.
Our partnership with SNG Grant Thornton supports schools' participation. Each year, community schools are invited to apply, explaining how they will select students and staff members based on criteria that motivates behaviour and performance specific to their school.
Mavula Pisgah Primary School - “In selecting the 8 learners we looked for the less privileged learners to motivate them that even in the midst of hardship one can rise. Reaching the top of Gobolondlo Mountain will motivate learners to keep going even when it gets tough because life is not always a walk in the park or a jolly ride. Returning back to the starting point will teach learners that perseverance is the master of success.
The involvement of the staff and two members representing parents is such a great thing because we feel we are being trained to be good caregivers even when faced with challenges as we are entrusted with the soul of a child and their growth holistically. It is why the school went for staff members and parent representatives with a passion for children who we are certain will be with the learners from the beginning until the end of the hike”.
Sobokazana High School - “This year we had mostly the introvert kind of kids but the hike made us know them better. Seeing them being so open and not complaining once, talking to their peers, oh it was great!”
School’s participation adds an inspiring dynamic - a reminder that the betterment of the future is through the child – ‘Umntfwana ngumliba loya embili’.

We intentionally keep our ticket prices low so that community members can also participate (ticket price covers T-shirts, refreshments, plus aerobics and music at the end).
Your support contributes towards our planning and management costs needed to ensure that 956 people safely make it the top and back!
