846 people participated in our Annual Gobolondlo Mountain Hike on May 12, 2024.
This is a challenging yet fun! hike that reflects our Problem Statement articulated by the community leaders who authorized the formation of Vusumnotfo -
"To reverse the negative cycle of dependency at family and community level, in ways relevant to the 17 Swazi communities who authorized the formation of Vusumnotfo"
---------------------------------------------
Dependency is a mindset that encompasses adults’ excessive reliance on others to meet their needs, solve their problems.
At individual level – dependency limits problem solving skills, which limits creativity, which limits a person realizing their unique potential.
At family and social level – dependency gives rise to Co-dependency – ”I will change only if you change first – you will change only if I change first” and Jealousy – other people’s successes are due to luck, cheating or muti – not hard work and skills that we can each learn from.
At community level – post funding, community efforts often do not operate and maintain projects to the neccessary standard.
----------------------
By purchasing tickets and participating in our Annual Hike, community members become the example of reversing the negative cycle of dependency into a positive cycle of sustainable development.
Our Vision - 17 Swazi communities, willing and able to improve their environmental, social and economic conditions
----------------------
