More and more wars cause more and more trauma.
Wars have led many to seek asylum in Egyptpt which gives ot Guilty great opportunity to work on war traumas with them.
Sudanese culture is different from Egyptian culture. Sudanese skin color makes them stand out in Egypt. Unfortunately, people would call them ‘chocolate skin’ or ‘pitch black’ to their faces, and others would flinch if a Sudanese brushed against them on the bus as if they had the plague.
Sudanese girls face harassment on the streets.
Although many Sudanese refugees have college degrees, they work menial jobs because this is what is available for them as refugees. At the onset of every training, we apologize to them in the name of all Egyptians who might have traumatized them with unkind words or deeds.
Next month, we have a training for 40 SUdanese refugees on war trauma, but this time it is different. We will be training tainers who will in turn be able to help the many children who have suffered trauma beascue of war. Not Guilty will be handing them resources that they can easily use.
