Friends of CREATE!,
All of us would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous support. Your contributions have been crucial in allowing us to continue our vital partnerships with rural communities in Senegal, helping them sustain and improve their lives and livelihoods. Today, I’d like to take a moment to highlight the remarkable progress being made by women in two of these communities. Their strides toward sustainable development are inspiring and demonstrate the incredible impact of our collaborative efforts.
First, I will start with beneficiary Seynabou, a resident of Ndiane Kahone, who has witnessed her community's remarkable transformation since partnering with CREATE! in 2020, right at the onset of the pandemic. Ndiane Kahone, familiar with the challenges of development and resilience, embraced this partnership with hope and determination. Under CREATE!'s guidance, Seynabou and her neighbors learned to cultivate fresh vegetables, a skill that has not only ensured a steady supply of nutritious food for their families but has also provided a source of sustainable income. Selling surplus vegetables in the market has become a significant financial boost for many households in the community.
One of the most impactful changes has been the establishment of a poultry shed. Before CREATE!'s project, purchasing chickens required long trips to distant markets where prices were often prohibitively high. This was especially challenging during holidays when the demand for poultry surged. Now, with their own poultry shed, chickens are readily available within the village, eliminating the need for arduous and costly journeys during important cultural events.
Seynabou reflects on the profound impact CREATE! has had on their lives: “thanks to CREATE!, we have been able to acquire new skills and improve our living conditions,” she says. The knowledge and resources provided have empowered the community to become more self-sufficient and resilient, transforming their daily lives and future prospects. The partnership with CREATE! has been a beacon of hope for Ndiane Kahone, proving that with the right support and knowledge, even the most challenging circumstances can be overcome, leading to a brighter, more sustainable future for all.
In another CREATE! community, beneficiaries basked in the incredible milestone of graduation from the program. CREATE! beneficiary Fama stood proudly among her fellow women of Mbossedji as they celebrated. The ceremony was a joyous occasion, marking not only the end of their journey with CREATE! but also their transition to independence and sustainability. It was a moment of pride and recognition for all the women involved in this transformative adventure. As Fama looked around, she felt a surge of emotion. "It was a very emotional moment for me," she reflected, "because I could see how far we've come as women, and the solidarity that unites us." The journey had been challenging, but their perseverance had paid off. The community had grown stronger, healthier, and more resilient, thanks to the skills and resources they had gained.
Today, Mbossedji boasts a second poultry shed, a solar fridge, and mills, all made possible through the support of CREATE! and its generous partners. These additions have not only improved their daily lives but have also opened up new opportunities for income and self-sufficiency. The women of Mbossedji now stand as a testament to the power of community and the impact of sustainable development. The graduation ceremony was a heartfelt celebration of their accomplishments and a sincere thank you to all who had contributed to their development. It marked the beginning of a new chapter for Mbossedji, filled with hope and promise for a brighter, more sustainable future.
The journeys of Seynabou in Ndiane Kahone and Fama in Mbossedji highlight the transformative power of community-driven development and the vital role of women as agents of change. Through the support and initiatives of CREATE!, these communities have not only achieved self-sufficiency but also fostered resilience and solidarity among their members. The successes celebrated in both narratives are a testament to what can be accomplished with dedication, collaboration, and the generous support of partners and donors. As these communities move forward, their stories serve as inspiring examples of sustainable development, offering hope and a blueprint for other rural areas striving for a better future.
We sincerely thank you for your generous support, which has made all of this possible. Your contributions enable us to continue our work, promoting resilience and sustainable development in these communities.
Thank you, Merci, Jerejef!
