Rain at last for Darfur!

Green pasture in Hillat Sabil
Dry Darfur? Not Anymore!
Late July and early August tend to be the rainy season in Darfur and we are delighted that this year the rains have indeed come!
The parched earth is now green with grass. Crops are flourishing, families will have food, animals will have fodder and the people can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
Isn't this picture of a green pasture in one of our newly adopted villages, Hillat Sabil, just wonderful!
Now we just need to pray that there is no flooding. Do you remember the frightening floods that destroyed so many straw huts last year and drowned both goats and donkeys? We are watching carefully as elsewhere in Sudan floods have already destroyed people's homes. Global warming is a real threat. In Darfur it is life threatning.
But green pastures really do bring hope for the future. Hope for children and their families, hope for their animals and, particularly, hope for the new villages we've adopted this year.
We can now start purchasing Goats for these new villages.
Soon we will be providing the poorest families in these villages with five Goats each as part of our Goat Loan project.
Mothers will be able to provide nourishing goat's milk for their starving children and have the prospect of an income too as they will be able to sell any excess milk. After two years, once the little flock has grown, five Nanny Goats will be passed on to another of the poorest families to benefit. Sustainability at its best.
Can you imagine just how life-changing this will be for these families? And for so many more in the future?
We now need your help to provide these Goats, to give these families hope.
