We thought you all might like to see our 2024 Achievements document (attached) that we have put together. It gives full details of exactly what we have provided during these terrible months, and to whom. It is with thanks to our sustainable projects - teaching water harvesting to families in our villages - that families have been able to grow more fresh fruits and vegetables. 2,883 Children from 400 families in Abu Degeise, Majdoub (A), Um Hagalig, Kulkul, Hillat Hassan, Mugabil, Um Ga`al, Amar Gadid and Tikailat will have fresh Tomatoes, Okra and Watermelon, thanks to the seeds we provided for planting.
We are thrilled that we have now been able to reach 49 of our 110 communities in Darfur. To date we have provided our Kitchen Kits to an astonishing 11,276 children. We have also now found a way to source and deliver medicine and first aid packs to our midwives and first aiders, as well as veterinary drugs to our Paravets. But Kids for Kids is not an emergency organisation. It is with thanks to our sustainable projects that our villages are now the most stable in Darfur. People are taking refuge in them, many making their homes there permanently, because of what they offer. And we will continue to provide our sustainable projects to 5 more villages, just as soon as it is safe to do so.
The needs are desperate across the whole of Darfur. There is famine declared in five regions of the country and acute malnutrition throughout. We have always done our best to show our supporters exactly what we have been doing - and in fact it is incredible how much we have been able to do, despite the violence. Even the UN has been unable to provide anything other than exceptionally limited humanitarian aid.
We are so grateful to you for continuing to support Kids for Kids and recognising the importance of our life-saving work. We hope you will consider donating during GlobalGiving's upcoming Little by Little campaign later this month, running from March 25 - 28. In this campaign, donations up to $50 (per unique donor, per organization) are matched at 50% until funds run out - so your $50 becomes $75! Please do let your friends know and set a calendar reminder now for the 25th! $25 of free money can make a world of difference to a starving child - so let's not miss out!
P.S Please let us know if you would like to receive news from Kids for Kids. We send out two mailings a year, and would love to include you so you have the most up to date information about what is going on in Darfur, and all that we are doing to help. You can always reach us at contact@kidsforkids.org.uk. Thank you again for all your support!
