A leader who inspires.
Community projects always require a leadership that motivates and inspires the rest of the inhabitants, however, this type of people is not common to find, and if they exist, they do not want to give their time and volunteer service to others.
Our character in this story is the president of the water management board of El Pital, a town in northern Honduras, who, despite his multiple occupations in agriculture, always has time to work for the development of his community.
He currently heads a group of more than 10 volunteers who make up the water management board, and they are working to complete a new clean water connection system that will benefit almost a thousand people. His leadership is so great that, despite having low schooling, he has been a counselor and instructor of construction engineers with basic sanitation projects in his community, and supported the survey.
His dream has always been to offer a clean water project that ensures a better quality of life. They currently have a project design and budget, and they work in search of funds to meet their goals. While managing the funds, he has motivated his community to work on micro projects that address health and environmental issues.
His leadership has been fundamental to the construction of the first gray water control system in rural Honduras, where 50 families were connected to the water treatment system. Likewise, a pilot project was built to build 6 ecological stoves, to reduce the consumption of firewood and have control of the smoke, and reduce respiratory diseases. In addition, it promotes community clean-up campaigns and educates through the water administration board on issues of disease prevention.
Without the advice and training that we have received from the One World organization, my leadership and the rest of my colleagues would not have been possible. This organization applied a famous adage. "Do not deliver the fish, teach how to fish" and that is how we are now able to achieve many dreams on our own initiative. (Testimony of president of water board of El Pital).
The management of funds to complete the clean water connection project continues, so we invite you to join this community dream, which will transform the quality of life of our inhabitants.
Likewise, we thank all the donors who have supported us so far, having the faith that we will continue to have their valuable collaboration, and that new donors will join us.
