The Last Drop of Water

By Roger Gillman | Head of TEABAG

The last drop of water in the village
The last drop of water in the village
Thanks to all that have supported us so far, but we still have someway to go until our goal can be achieved.
This a a report from the Head of TEABAG that has been out in Ghana for the past few weeks working with the village and checking up on the project:

'I have been in Ghana for four weeks so far. In my many trips to Ghana over 16 years, this has been the hotest and dryest time that I have experienced.  The heat during the day is unbearable and it only goes down to around 30 degrees at night.

The water situation in the village is now critical. The mains is not running,  the ponds puddles and streams have dried up.  All water has to be brought in to the village by tanker but this is insufficient to serve the population and is too expensive for many.

Our borehole is still producing water but at a reduced rate. It is still perfectly clear but still too salty to drink or cook with. However, the borehole water is serving a vital function for flushing the toilets,  cleaning the dormatories and for washing. At first, the students could not use the water for laundry because it would not lather with the traditional bars of laundry soap, now they have found that the water is good for laundry if they use liquid detergent.

Today,  being Saturday,  all 200 college students were busy washing their clothes, bedding and floors of the dormatories with borehole water.

I just found the last drop of water in the village.  The children ran away when they saw me coming,  but they were drinking this water!'

The situation is urgent. If you can support this project, please do!
