We Love Reading

Taghyeer is a local independent nonprofit organization founded in 2010 in Amman, Jordan. The We Love Reading program is carried out under Taghyeer’s patronage and aims to create change makers through fostering the love of reading for pleasure among children. Our initiative trains local men, women, and youth to hold regular read-aloud sessions for children in public spaces in their neighborhoods. We Love Reading has spread to more than 61 countries around the world, where thousands of We Love Reading libraries have been established.

Our goal is to create a healthy, vibrant society by empowering people to think critically and lead the change they seek in their communities. We strive to improve the cultural, social, psychological, and educational wellbeing of children, youth, and women across Jordan by developing entrepreneurial capabilities through hands-on training that is grounded in research and real-life experiences.

your donations over the last 3 months contributed in Conducting four WLR Reading Ambassador training in three different areas of East Amman for 88 Jordanian and Syrian women. The two-day interactive training provided the local women with the skills they need to implement the read aloud method to encourage children to read for fun, as well as builds capabilities in social entrepreneurship. Each women will gain access to the We Love Reading Global Ambassadors Network (WLR-GAN), an online network with over 3,000 Reading Ambassadors worldwide

A total of 1,800 books were distributed, each woman received a book package to start her own library, the package contains 21 books that are fun, creative, and unleash the children’s imaginations. Books are developed according to set criteria and methodology, taking into account factors such as theme, relevancy to the children’s culture and background, language, and age-appropriateness. The books cover a variety of themes, including environmental awareness, empathy, gender, non-violence, disabilities, and refugees.

During the last three months, over 400 hundred read aloud sessions were held by the reading ambassadors and more than 350 community- based children attended the reading sessions and still.
