Training Ambassadors, Reaching Children

Dear Valued Donors

Over the past four months, the path from one trained volunteer to a circle of children listening to a story became visible again and again. From April through July 2026, 203 volunteers received We Love Reading training through online and in-person pathways. Across the same period, 316 read-aloud sessions reached 4,367 children.

July marked the strongest month of community activity, with 200 sessions reaching 3,038 children. These results reflect the value of pairing accessible training with a simple, community-owned model that volunteers can adapt to the places where children live, learn, and gather.

Under Taghyeer Organization, We Love Reading trains local adults and youth to read aloud for pleasure in their neighborhoods. What began in Amman in 2006 has grown into a research-backed grassroots movement active in more than 71 countries, with over 4,400 community libraries.

Two Pathways, One Shared Purpose

Online training remained an important entry point for volunteers. During the reporting period, 38 volunteers took the training in April, 10 in May, 23 in June, and 29 in July - a total of 100 participants. This digital pathway enables volunteers to access the We Love Reading method from different locations and build their knowledge on a flexible schedule.

Face-to-face delivery complemented the online pathway with practical, participatory learning. A total of 31 volunteers received in-person training in May, 52 in June, and 20 in July - 103 participants overall. In these workshops, participants could explore the art of reading aloud, discuss how to engage children, and prepare to establish and sustain a neighborhood library.

Together, the two training pathways expanded access without changing the program's core idea: equip a local volunteer, trust their knowledge of the community, and support them to create regular, joyful encounters around books.

THE MODEL IN ACTION
Accessible training opens the door; community ownership helps the reading continue.

From Training to Reading Sessions

Training creates its greatest value when volunteers put it into action. In April, 20 reading sessions reached 439 children. In May, 73 sessions reached 691 children. June recorded 23 sessions and 199 children, followed by a major increase in July, when 200 sessions reached 3,038 children.

JULY MOMENTUM
200 read-aloud sessions | 3,038 children reached

July accounted for 63% of all sessions and nearly 70% of the children reached during the four-month period. This momentum shows how quickly the program's reach can expand when trained volunteers and community partners activate their local networks.

Behind every number is a moment of connection: a child listening closely, imagining a new possibility, asking a question, or associating books with joy. The sessions are intentionally rooted in familiar community spaces, helping reading become an experience that belongs to children and their neighborhoods.

Your Support Helps the Story Continue

These results show why the We Love Reading model is designed to multiply. Support for training does not end with one participant: it helps equip a volunteer who can gather children, lead repeated sessions, and build a culture of reading within the community.

Our focus remains on widening access to online learning, strengthening in-person training with community partners, and encouraging ambassadors to continue holding and documenting regular reading sessions. The combination of flexible training and local leadership allows the model to grow while remaining rooted in each community's language and culture.

We are deeply grateful for your continued generosity. During these four months, your support helped transform training into action and action into thousands of meaningful reading moments for children. Thank you for standing with We Love Reading as we continue changing mindsets through reading to create changemakers.

With gratitude,
Rana Dajani and the We Love Reading team
