Achievements, Gratitude and Goals

By Katia Louise | Director

When generous supporters help to fund the Wild For Life Foundation through Global Giving it supports our lifesaving mission in numerous ways. Support received through WFLF’s Hay Donation Drive helps to fund the purchase of high quality food which provides nutritional meals for horses and burros served through WFLF including starvation victims, and other at-risk victimized and displaced equines that arrive to our doors, regardless of origin/ breed, age, gender or lack of training.

This project fills an immediate need to feed at-risk animals that would otherwise go without, and advocates for their protection. At-risk horses and burros served by WFLF are provided with safe and peaceful habitats, high quality nutritious food - and their healing and triumph over starvation and hunger in turn inspires good will and brings increased attention to this vital cause.

WFLF’s rescue and crisis assistance missions have saved hundreds of horses and burros over the past few years—the majority of whom would likely have gone to slaughter without your support —these efforts resulted in the significant increase of the numbers of horses in our care and needing our assistance over the past several years.  And keeping in a good supply of hay available at all times has become more challenging than ever, but we are committed to our promise to the family bands and individual horses and burros who have found lifesaving refuge at WFLF’s Sanctuary facilities.

We thank you for helping to make this possible.

We’ve had a busy program year in 2018 with tremendous progress in equine rescue and sanctuary operations with a focus on continuing to feed, care and advocate for America’s at-risk horses and burros.

Nutritional hay is life for horses and burros, and because grazing pasture land is not a viable option in Southern California, continued deliveries of semi-trailer truck loads of hay are vital to this lifesaving mission. But our ability to have high quality hay delivered by the truck load has recently become even more of a challenge — with repeated, longer dry summer and fall seasons; these extreme drought conditions, with wildfires looming, and the increased fuel and grain prices have severely impacted the cost of providing nutritional quality hay for at-risk horses and burros in California, but we must continue to haul hay in, and that’s why this project is so important!

Our year end goal is to raise $6800.00 which will pay for a full truck and trailer full of hay and will re-fill the barn. As you can imagine, it is a huge challenge to pay for all this hay on a continuing basis. Our small dedicated all-volunteer crew is willing to do the hard work involved, but we are only able to succeed with the support of many other people like you.

We extend our most heartfelt gratitude to those who have generously responded.

Donations made in support of WFLF's Hay Donation project help to assure that rescued wild and domestic horses and burros receive the nutritional quality hay they need, which also improves capacity assurance which in turn assures the future well being of countless horses and burros in need.

We are committed to meeting the challenge of sustaining this lifesaving project and to achieving protection for all horses and burros from hunger and starvation. The potential long term impact of the work accomplished through this project is far reaching, and also includes advocating for safeguards to protect equines from inhumane management practices in the wild.

But, we cannot do this alone. It takes all of us working together to assure America’s horses and burros receive the protection they need, to raise awareness, effect positive change and save as many lives as possible.

That’s why we are excited to be part of GlobalGiving’s 2018 Year-End campaign where recurring monthly donations get matched 100% by GlobalGiving! New recurring donations up to $200 per donor made to this project will be matched 100% through Dec 31st!

When you upgrade to a monthly gift by Dec 31st, your donation will be matched 100% by GlobalGiving. Monthly giving is the easiest and most effective way to support this lifesaving mission and now you can double the impact of your gift to help save more lives.

Please make help support this project with a yearend gift and then share this important update with five of your friends and tell them why this project is important to you. Together, we can make an even bigger difference and save more lives.

As always we thank you for supporting the Wild For Life Foundation (WFLF).

Sincerely,

From all of us at WFLF,
