The next deadline for our hay drive is coming up! Help keep the horses and burros served through WFLF well fed by chipping to fulfill our hay drive. This need is immediate. If you have wanted to help, but have put it off, NOW’S THE TIME! On average we purchase 250-265 (100 lb) bales of hay for delivery to feed equines in need at an average cost of $3500 every few weeks.
The replenishment of WFLF’s lifesaving hay fund is crucial to fulfilling our mission to save and protect these precious innocent lives. A lifetime of care for wild horses and burros can be up to 30 years or more per equine. With animal rescue emergencies constantly needing attention both locally and across the country, yesterday’s emergencies are often forgotten by caring supporters, yet our lifesaving work for these animals continues every day of the year. That’s why your continued help is so crucial for these animals.
Countless horses and burros will suffer starvation through the upcoming winter. Skyrocketing hay prices compounded by rising costs for fuel and neglectful owners who have not provided adequate feed during tough economic times are among the main causes. It takes a great deal of hay to bring just one starved horse back to health and even more to feed a large number of homeless rescue horses through the winter. The cost to replenish quality hay supplies to feed rescue horses is the single highest expense for WFLF's lifesaving equine rescue and sanctuary program.
Charity missions like the ‘WFLF Hay Drive to Aid Horses and Burros in Need’ help raise awareness and essential funds, to aid horses, ponies, donkeys and foals that need urgent care after being starved, neglected, rounded up or discarded and left to die. A bale of hay can make all the difference!
Through GlobalGiving, with your continued kind and generous support we’ve raised $2771 through 63 donations to date. If everyone who had thought about contributing chipped in right now, we bet we could work an extra miracle today and raise the remaining $22,229. Miracles for horses are hard to come by, but our supporters work them all the time.
We hope you will help us spread the word about the vital need for donations through our GlobalGiving platform. You can also set up a recurring donation. In fact, monthly giving is the easiest way to support this crucial lifesaving mission. Indeed monthly gifts provide a consistent, reliable income stream that allows us to assure that these vulnerable victimized animals receive the quality hay they need and that they will never be at risk of starvation or displacement again! Your support in sharing information about this important cause will undoubtedly help us to come closer to our goal. Will you help by sharing a link to our project page on GlobalGiving?
We are sincerely grateful for your ongoing support for our lifesaving mission to save and protect these innocent animals. Each and every donation no matter the size makes a difference - no matter the amount. Having crucial hay supplies on hand at all times is what makes it possible to carry out our lifesaving work.
Thank you again for your interest and support and for all you do to make this incredible aid for at-risk horses possible.
Yours for the horses,
Katia Louise
