Widowhood in Nepal

Dear Friends, donors and well wishers,
Today we share with you all  the story of Reeta (name changed for privacy) and her children, a family whose life has been deeply affected by poverty, domestic violence, and social exclusion in Nepal.

For years, Reeta (name changed for privacy) endured abuse, discrimination, and extreme hardship while struggling to protect and provide for her children. After surviving a brutal violent attack by her husband that seriously injured both Reeta (name changed for privacy)and her daughter, the family was left living in fear and uncertainty.

Today, through BEF’s Educare Family Program, the family is slowly rebuilding their lives with dignity and hope. BEF has been supporting the family with education support for the children, food and basic needs assistance, emotional care, counselling, protection, and regular follow-up support.

As part of our long-term sustainability efforts, one of the daughters has also been enrolled in a six-month professional tailoring training program in coordination with our local partner, Opportunity Village Nepal. This opportunity is helping her move toward confidence, independence, and a safer future.

While the family’s journey is still ongoing, your support is helping transform fear into hope and survival into opportunity for vulnerable women and children in Nepal.
