SACT Educational Comics - Q3 2025

SACT Q3 2025 Report - Creating the Conservationists of Tomorrow

SACT is expanding wildlife conservation education in Zimbabwe, Zambia, and Botswana through comics and educational programs. These initiatives focus on iconic African species and involve collaborations with sponsors to enhance outreach and resources.

SACT publishes educational comics like "Cheetah Guardian," "Elephant Guardian," and "Ground Hornbill Guardian" to raise awareness about wildlife conservation. These comics, along with themed lessons, are distributed to Eco-Club schools, reaching numerous learners.

Support from donors, including Briandez Legacy Trust and Lion Recovery Fund, is facilitated by GlobalGiving. There is a demand for more printed materials, such as the elephant comic for Botswana. Of the 15,000 copies printed, only 240 remain. New educational materials, including a fourth edition on vultures and a marine conservation project on African penguins, are in development.

VUSA Comic Book Distribution Update

Eco-Clubs in Zimbabwe’s Tsholotsho and Lupane districts received their first batch of VUSA: The Lion Guardian comics, along with three other titles. Each of the 17 Eco-Club schools received 510 comic books. These books are reaching schools near iconic national parks like Hwange, Zambezi, and Mana Pools.

CITW Eco-Mentors are delivering themed lessons that link each comic title to local conservation challenges. The Lion Guardian comic has been introduced in all schools, supported by a dedicated lion conservation lesson. Interactive sessions help learners explore lion behavior, their role in ecosystems, and the threats they face, fostering curiosity and inspiring action
