With more than 1,000 rescued animals from about 100 different species at Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre, we have a lot of mouths to feed! At the end of last year, we asked all of our supporters to help us buy a new food delivery truck because our old, second-hand truck was struggling to make its daily trips from Phnom Penh to the Centre and repairs were becoming more expensive.
You helped us to raise over $40,000!
We bought a brand new delivery truck and outfitted it with removable sides to easily load and unload everything rescued animals need every day: coconuts, bananas, watermelons, potatoes, water-greens, grass, insects, fresh meat, fish, goat’s milk and baby formula for the little ones we are hand-raising in the nursery, and much more. Even clean water for the hairy-nosed otter’s pool must be transported to the Centre.
In April, our new delivery truck hit the road! Now our driver, Khem, can be confident that the truck will not breakdown while he is making the arduous journey through Phnom Penh traffic and congested construction sites to Phnom Tamao. When he arrives, he drives around to each section of the Centre delivering what each group of animals’ need. Khem even puts out supplemental food for the released animals around the main lake area – in one of the photos below you can see a herd of sambar cautiously approaching the new truck.
Thank you so much for your support. Every dollar you give goes towards essentials that ensure rescued wildlife at Phnom Tamao receives the best possible food and care.
