Extended Winter Cold Deepens Risks for Elderly Living Alone
Tbilisi has been covered in snow and freezing temperatures for four days in a row, significantly affecting daily life across the city. For elderly people living alone, these conditions bring increased isolation, health risks, and difficulty accessing essential services.
Cold weather can worsen chronic illnesses, limit mobility, and make it unsafe for elderly individuals to leave their homes. Many of the people we support depend on regular assistance for food, medicine, and basic daily needs, all of which become harder to manage during prolonged winter conditions.
Our team continues to monitor the situation closely and provide ongoing support wherever possible, ensuring that elderly beneficiaries are not left without assistance during this challenging time. Winter can be especially harsh for those facing it alone, and our commitment remains focused on maintaining dignity, safety, and care throughout these cold days.
