By Freddy Ghana | Sewing Legend of Ghana
Cape Coastal the home of one of the slave castles in Ghana. It is a rural fishing community and as such there is simply no support for women of this community to do anything other than stay at home and look after the house or family.
Pre-COVID our project was offering sewing lessons to women that then went on to sell their items in our tourist shop at the castle which is a tourist attraction. Lockdown and the collapse of tourism meant this project was forced to close and we lost many of our local supporters.
But now we are back! Welcoming the first women to the centre the team are working to make new items and sell them again, it's a great project but to run we fund the local teacher a small salary to survive, we fund the material and thread needed to learn and this comes from individual people like you that donate to action change or our project on GlobalGiving. It really is so important to us and we can only do it with your support and words will ever show how grateful we all are here in Ghana!
Thank You for supporting us through this difficult time and we are so excited to re-open and get back to changing the future for all women in our community.
Thanks,
Freddy
