Silvana, a 50-year-old woman from La Madrid, is an example of resilience. She has a life story marked by tragedies and crucial moments that shaped her. She had cancer (which left many sequelae) and suffered the loss of her 2-year-old son. All this made her not want to leave her house for years, she had stopped working, and expressed that she did not feel the drive to undertake any productive activity for fear of failing.
"I am a depressive woman," she commented. Silvana's words touch our hearts.
Thanks to the invitation from the community promoters, Silvana finally decided to participate in the “Women as Protagonists” workshop. "Being here today is a very big achievement for me," she said during her introduction. She felt a lot of fear, both emotionally and due to her health situation.
The workshop allowed Silvana to work on her fears and insecurities and recognize how her mood was affecting her daily life. Through her participation in the workshop, she received support from the community promoters and began working on her life project. Seven months after deciding to participate in this initiative, Silvana decided to start her own family business selling pizzas.
Through this initiative, she was able to generate income for her household and begin to meet some of her family's basic needs, which boosted her confidence and self-esteem. Additionally, she started working again by caring for the elderly, creating a new dynamic in her life through organizing her work.
