Hello Darfur Women Network's Friends and Supporters,
Darfur Women Network (DWN) would like to express its gratitude for your generous donation. With it, you enable us to reach out to displaced and venerable families to raise their awareness about their rights and their children’s rights and to help them protect their children by earning a steady income.
The DWN conducted a study in internally displaced camps in South Darfur to generate information for designing and implementing a new program, ‘Women’s and Child’s Rights, Protection, and Empowerment Program.” The purpose of the study was to find the root causes behind children who were forced into child labor, becoming soldiers, and early mirage as well as dropping of schools to enable us to find solution.
This project will benefit 155 families and their 198 children (ages 7-16) who are working as child laborers at construction sites where they carry, load and unload heavy mershandise at markets. In addition to 48 children with physical disabilities. The goal of this project is to:1. Eradicate child labor and child soldiers and enhance child protection.2. Provide children with safe environments to learn and develop. 3. Ensure the protection of women and children against violence. 4. Ensure equal access for displaced and vulnerable families - with focus on women and girls - through education, capacity building, sustainable development projects and financial resources.
DWN will provide the Economic Empowerment Program to achieve our goals and to have a social impact on our targeted group (internally displace and vulnerable families) by earning an income to create stable families and support systems within the families to their children to go to school instead of work and to achieve their educational goals instead of drop-off-schools.
Expected Outcome: The Economic Empowerment project results in empowering our targeted groups, displaced and vulnerable women, to achieve the following:
