On behalf of the Darfur Women Network, I would like to express my gratitude for your kind support and your generous donations! Thank You!

Today, I am honored to share with you some exciting news, which provides a huge opportunity for you to open the life-changing door passionately for disadvantaged youths from displaced, conflict-affected, and poor families in Darfur. The opportunity will change their lives and others.

In 2021, we started economic empowerment project, in which we trained women from displaced, vulnerable, and poor families on making bars and liquid soap, and detergent. As a result, women earned money from making and selling soap. They provide food for their children, but it has been difficult for these women to afford schools, health care, and training for their children. That means the income they earned helped them to survive while they lacked public services.

 We conducted qualitative and quantitative evaluations in 2022. The most important recommendation was scaling up the project to improve the livelihood of more families and provide a vocational skills interventions program to youths who are in dire condition and in need of urgent intervention.

The Darfur Women Network conducted a study on youth who are from our targeted group. We found that there are many youths who graduated from high school, some work jobs without using their education, and most of those who have high school certificates are unemployed for years. Some who are in university or graduated are unemployed or work jobs without using a computer due to the following challenges:

1-    Their families can’t afford technology training.

2-     Lacking electricity, internet, and a computer at home.

3-     Income from jobs unable who work to take technology training.

The Darfur Women Network responded by providing a technology Literacy program and vocational training for young people to help with capacity building, job opportunities, and worldwide connection.

Technology Literacy Program:

This program aims to empower youths to use technology to improve their lives and their families’ livelihoods.

The Darfur Women Network has an agreement with Delphi Institute for learning English and computers to provide technology Literacy for our first group of 15 youths.

The training includes the following:

• Microsoft Office
• Internet.
• Resume writing.

 During the training and when they finished; the institute agreed to use their computer lab, for two hours per day during workdays. Also, they will provide our youth with technical support during this time, because they don’t have anywhere to practice their computer skills and search for jobs.

We will help them with social media platforms and different ideas, knowledge, and skills to earn more income and to learn and share with the world.
