Report on the Crisis in South Darfur

We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our donors. Your generous support has been instrumental in enabling us to provide critical assistance to those affected by the crisis in South Darfur. Without your help, our efforts to protect and empower women and children in these dire circumstances would not be possible.

Now, Sudan, specifically, South Darfur is experiencing a humanitarian crisis due to the actions of the Rapid Support Force (RSF). This report outlines severe human rights violations, including sexual violence, killings, abductions, and exploitation targeting unarmed civilians- women and children. The RSF's actions have resulted in the collapse of state infrastructure and governance, creating an urgent need for humanitarian intervention and protection.

Background

The RSF has unleashed a campaign of terror in South Darfur, committing widespread atrocities against civilians. This has led to the breakdown of local governance and severe disruption of daily life.

Human Rights Violations

1. Sexual Violence: Women and children are being systematically raped and sexually assaulted by RSF soldiers.
2. Killings: Extrajudicial killings of civilians, including women and children, are rampant, often carried out publicly to instill fear- using heavy military weapons.
3. Abductions: Numerous women and children have been abducted, and forced into militia members, sexual slavery, and other forms of exploitation.
4. Exploitation: The RSF is exploiting vulnerable women and children, forcing them into servitude and degrading conditions.

State Collapse

The RSF has looted and destroyed government buildings, leading to a total collapse of state infrastructure. Essential services are disrupted, and the rule of law has broken down, leaving civilians unprotected. Millions have displaced and some have become displaced due to lack of money.

Humanitarian Response

Women's and Child's Rights, Protection & Empowerment is in need to provide life-saving assistance, focusing on:

1. Safe Shelter:  Secure locations for victims to find refuge from violence.
2. Medical Assistance: Urgent medical care for victims of sexual violence and other injuries.
3. Psychological Support: Trauma counseling for survivors.
4. Basic Necessities: Distribution of food, clean water, and hygiene products.
5. Legal Aid: Helping survivors seek justice and documenting abuses for accountability.

Call to Action

We urge the international community, humanitarian organizations, and governments worldwide to recognize the crisis in South Darfur and other region of Sudan and support our efforts. Immediate and coordinated action is necessary to address these human rights violations and hold those responsible accountable.
