Darfur Women Network Final Report
Sudan Emergency Fund-GlobalGiving
Location: Farms & Zamzam Camp, El Fasher, Sudan
Date: December 18, 2024
We reflect on the resilience of Sudanese families displaced by relentless conflict. Forced from their homes, they endure unimaginable hardships—hunger, thirst, cold, and despair.
Meet Nadia, a Mother from Darfur:
"My name is Nadia, and I am from El Fasher, El Gadie neighborhood. I was displaced twice—first to the market and then to a farm, where my children and I now seek refuge under a tree due to relentless drones and ground attacks. Life here is unimaginably hard. I am a mother of four, including one child with a disability. Before Darfur Women Network and GlobalGiving reached out to us, we had no choice but to eat Umbaz—a byproduct of peanut oil production, typically used as animal feed—just to survive.
I never expected to receive food, milk, and drinking water. Your support has been a miracle for my family and me. Now, we have life-saving essentials that give us hope. Still, we sleep on the cold, bare ground with only a thin mat. Winter has arrived, and we have no blankets or other necessities.
I am far from my family and have no one to rely on. Despite these ongoing challenges, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to Darfur Women Network and GlobalGiving for your compassion and generosity. You have brought light to a very dark time in our lives. Thank you for giving us hope."
Your Impact So Far
Thanks to your generosity:
Total Beneficiaries: 3,886 families and 282 childrenThe Growing Need
Hundreds of thousands remain displaced, enduring hunger, cold, and illness. The Darfur Women Network (DWN), in partnership with GlobalGiving, is working tirelessly to reach survivors of the Darfur genocide residing in the Zamzam displaced persons camp and newly displaced civilians from South, West, and Central Sudan.
Crisis in RSF-Controlled Regions
The situation remains dire as the Rapid Support Force (RSF) intensifies attacks, forcing civilians to flee under harrowing conditions. Hospitals are destroyed, food supplies scarce, and water sources contaminated. Displaced families often rely on ponds shared with animals, leading to widespread waterborne illnesses.
DWN’s Relief Efforts
Despite these challenges, DWN’s courageous teams continue to deliver essential aid:
Effectiveness of Our Team
Our team has demonstrated exceptional effectiveness, navigating risks, managing resources wisely, and ensuring the safe delivery of services. We have adapted to unpredictable conditions, maintained communication with local partners, and prioritized the safety of our volunteers and beneficiaries. This commitment has enabled us to achieve meaningful impact while mitigating potential risks.
